The DELF is an official qualification awarded by the French Ministry of Education. It consists of four independent diplomas that correspond to the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR): A1, A2, B1, and B2.
A1 (Beginner): At this level, you will learn basic expressions, greetings, and introductions. You’ll be able to understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at satisfying needs of a concrete type.
A2 (Elementary): Here, you will handle simple and routine tasks requiring a direct exchange of information. You’ll be able to communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar topics.
B1 (Intermediate): This level allows you to understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters. You’ll learn to deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken.
B2 (Upper Intermediate): At this stage, you will be able to interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party.
TCF (Test de Connaissance du Français)
The TCF is a language placement test for non-native speakers who need to assess their proficiency in French for personal, academic, or professional reasons. It evaluates your skills in reading, listening, grammar, and vocabulary.
TEF (Test d’Évaluation de Français)
The TEF is another proficiency test that measures your French language skills. It’s widely recognized for immigration purposes, particularly in Canada and Quebec. The TEF assesses comprehension and expression skills in French, both orally and in writing.
